Kamala Harris wore a versatile look on Friday to attend a campaign rally in Douglas, Arizona, where she opted to wear accessories with symbolism.
The Vice President took to the stage in a brown utility jacket with hidden button closures and flap pockets over a black t-shirt and matching trousers.
She elevated the outfit with statement jewelry, including Tiffany & Co.’s Graduated Link Necklace in 18k yellow gold. From the HardWear range, the collection’s design was inspired by a bracelet from 1962, featuring the brand’s signature gauge links, which it describes as embodying “an enduring resilience and uninhibited spirit.”
Harris coordinated the necklace with Tiffany & Co.’s pearl earrings. Harris’ penchant for pearls could have begun during her college years at Howard University as a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, of which its members often style their outfits with pearls, along with wearing the organization’s official colors pink and green.
“Pearls represent refinement and wisdom,” Glenda Glover, international president of AKA, told Vanity Fair in 2020. “We train young ladies to be leaders and to make sure they have the wisdom to lead…and that goes hand in hand with the true meaning of what AKA is all about.”
On Saturday, Harris suited up in a dark blazer with matching pants, accessorizing with the same Tiffany & Co. earrings and a pearl necklace by Irene Neuwirth. She’s seen wearing the 18-karat gold chain necklace in her official White House portrait.
