Anya Taylor-Joy Goes for Sculptural Inspiration and Floral Embellishments in Custom Balmain for ‘Furiosa’ Photo Call in Mexico City

Anya Taylor-Joy continued her method dressing approach to her “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” press tour with her latest photo call in Mexico City on Monday. The actress fashioned a custom piece that merged hard metal with soft, feminine floral embellishments.

The actress wore a custom minidress design courtesy of Balmain, with a metal shell and closures on the sides. The sculptural look was molded to Taylor-Joy’s frame and featured a high neckline and floral details cascading down the bodice and shoulders of the piece.

With the metal minidress as the centerpiece of Taylor-Joy’s ensemble, the actress opted to forgo any jewelry and wore translucent heels. The “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” star’s blond tresses were pulled back; save for a few wisps of hair that framed Taylor-Joy’s face.

Her hair was styled by Gregory Russell with makeup by Georgie Eisdell, who gave Taylor-Joy’s soft makeup look a bold pop of color with a deep red lip. Taylor-Joy’s look was curated by stylist Ryan Hastings.

Over the course of her press tour for “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” Taylor-Joy has taken inspiration from her forthcoming action film when it comes to event dressing.

Prior to her Mexico City photo call, the actress wore an ornate look from Paco Rabanne’s spring 1996 couture collection for the red carpet Sydney premiere of the film on May 2. The vintage piece featured spike and arrow-like elements attached to the skirt and headpiece of Taylor-Joy’s intricately designed minidress.

For the Sydney media call on May 1, the actress played with contrasting fabrics in a burnt sienna-hued gown from Rick Owens’ spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection. The floor-length dress featured a sleeveless, one-shoulder strap. Taylor-Joy accessorized her look with jewelry from Tiffany & Co., for whom she’s been an ambassador since 2021.

“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” stars Taylor-Joy as the titular character in the prequel to director George Miller’s 2015 Oscar-winning feature “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The story follows Furiosa’s abduction and fight to return home in a desolate world. The film costars Chris Hemsworth. “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” hits theaters May 24.
