Brooke Shields brought the plaids, checks and tartan trend to Forbes’ 50 over 50 celebration in New York on Friday. The actress selected a wool midi halter dress from Brandon Maxwell‘s fall 2020 collection, which she paired with gold hoops, layered bracelets and brown leather boots.
Shields wore her brunette tresses in waves, while her makeup consisted of brown eyeshadow, muted blush and mauve lip liner.
Earlier this month, the “Mother of the Bride” star attended the New York City Ballet’s 2024 Fall Fashion Gala, joining Sarah Jessica Parker, Tiffany Haddish and more at the event.
Shields wore a vintage cream gown that once belonged to her mother, Teri, which was adorned with pearlescent beads and crystals. “She wore it to meet the queen,” Shields said in a short video clip shared to social media. Teri, who served as Brooke’s manager, acted alongside her daughter in “Endless Love” and “Backstreet Dreams.”
In June, the former Calvin Klein spokesmodel launched her hair care brand, Commence.
“When I hit this age, I had a sense of accomplishment, but also this excitement that there is more to look forward to,” Shields, who turned 59 this spring, told Beauty Inc. “I wanted this optimism to be something that we all shared with regards to how we age.”
Shields added that she’s interested in dispelling taboo topics, particularly surrounding aging.
“This period of life is a beginning. It’s a call to action,” Shields said. “This is about looking at your life in its entirety and saying, ‘How do I want to walk through this period?’”
Plaids, checks and tartans are trending this season. WWD’s Alex Badia noted that several high-profile labels, including Chloé, Dior and Burberry, incorporated these heritage prints in recent collections.
