Nia Long is the star of Skims‘ 2024 shapewear campaign, featuring various collections from the brand cofounded by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede. In the campaign, Long models pieces from the Skims Body, Seamless Sculpt and Hosiery collections, putting the brand’s diverse range of tonal pieces front and center.
Lensed by photographer and longtime Skims collaborator Vanessa Beecroft, the Skims 2024 shapewear campaign with Nia Long is among the brand’s most alluring. Images from the campaign features the actress striking a series of poses in various shapewear selections.
“I am absolutely a fan of the brand. I have purchased my own Skims online many times,” Long told WWD in an exclusive interview. “I think Kim [Kardashian] understands a woman’s body. I think she understands the pressure that women face, especially on the red carpet and when your underpinnings are correct, it just makes the wardrobe that much more beautiful,” Long said.
Along with her general admiration for the brand, Long revealed to WWD she regularly wears Skims for work, red carpet events and more. “I absolutely have worn Skims on the red carpet. I’ve worn Skims on sets. I wore skims during ‘The Best Man’ shoot,” she said. ‘The Best Man’ series that we did on Peacock, Skims was a very important part of Jordan’s wardrobe,” Long said of her character.
Long is set to receive her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2025, as well. “I will be wearing Skims when I receive my star,” she said, adding “and I will be wearing skims on that red carpet on October” for the premiere of the premiere of the forthcoming film “Michael,” a biopic about singer Michael Jackson. Long will play Jackson’s family matriarch, Katherine Jackson, in the film.
“It is an honor and a privilege to represent a woman who has carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, who raised a family of talented, beautiful children during a time when it was very difficult for Black people to be seen and heard, she is a hero. She is a trailblazer.”
Not only a fan of the brand, Long spoke highly of her experience collaborating with the creative team behind Skims for the Shapewear campaign. “Vanessa is amazing. Her eye is impeccable,” Long said of Beecroft. “It was the most amazing shoot. When you’re surrounded by excellence — the product, the experience — the outcome is always positive,” she said.
“And I was surrounded by a diverse group of women who were there, for one thing, and that was to make the experience comfortable. It’s definitely one of the most memorable shoots that I’ve had in my entire career,” she said.
2024 was a year of campaign and talent integration for Skims, as the brand collaborated with several high-profile stars across campaigns. Among the company’s 2024 collaborations, Skims partnered with members of the WNBA for the brand’s Fits Everybody campaign last May. Skims also capitalized on the popularity of “Brat Summer,” partnering with Charli XCX for the Cotton Rib and Cotton Fleece styles.
