FGI’s Night of Stars Reveals Honorees for 40th Anniversary Event


Fashion Group International has revealed the honorees for the 40th Anniversary of Night of Stars, that will take place at The Plaza Hotel on Oct. 15.

Taking home the Fashion Visionary Award is Reed Krakoff, creative chairman of John Hardy, who was previously Tiffany’s chief artistic officer and creative director of Coach and his own eponymous brand.

LaQuan Smith, the luxury fashion designer and founder and chief executive officer of his own eponymous brand, will receive the Fashion Vanguard Award. Smith’s figure-hugging clothing and revealing dresses have been worn by such celebrities as Lady Gaga, Khloe Kardashian, Hailey. Bieber, Kylie Jenner, and Beyonce.

Max Mara will take home the Design Heritage Award, which will be accepted by Maria Giulia Prezioso Maramotti, Max Mara Fashion Group’s omnichannel retail director and global brand ambassador.

Harry Kargman, founder and chief executive officer at Kargo, a leading mobile brand advertising marketplace, will receive the Humanitarian Award, for his work combating poverty in New York City. He has invested significant resources and time with the River Fund based in Queens to help solve the most acute poverty as well as Phoenix Charter Academy serving New England youth. He is also decade-long supporter of the arts, including The New York City Ballet, School of American Ballet, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of Art.

Winning the FGI Founders’ Award is Fern Mallis, president at Fern Mallis LLC and an industry consultant. Mallis is also creator and host of a conversation series “Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis,” at 92NY in New York. She was earlier executive director of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and an IMG ambassador.

Receiving the beauty award will be Catherine Bomboy Dougherty, senior vice president, global brand, integrated communications at The Estee Lauder Cos.

Marc, Heidi, Charli, and Dixie D’Amelios, the social media and reality stars, will take home the Media award. In 2019, when Charlie was only 15, she began posting dance videos on TikTok and rose to breakout fame. D’Amelio Bands launched in 2022 and to date, the company has launched a line of women’s footwear, a skincare, line and a fan merchandise company. Heidi and Charli appeared on “Dancing with the Stars,” and the family’s docuseries, “The D’Amerilio Show,” appeared on Hulu.

The reception, that takes place from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., will be hosted by Cyril Verdavainne, the FGI Rising Star co-winner of eveningwear this year. The dinner and awards take place from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Night of Stars will be hosted by honorary chairs Zac Posen, fashion designer and creative director of The Gap, model and author Coco Rocha and Richard Dickson, CEO of The Gap.
