A 22-year-old is in jail following an Aug. 3 car accident that killed two women along Gallatin Pike and Cude Lane, the Metro Nashville Police Department announced in a news release.
The 22-year-old male was reportedly driving impaired and speeding when he ran a red flashing light and hit a Ford Focus. The two women in the back of the car, one 24 years old and the other 25, died at the scene. A 26-year-old driver in the front of the Ford Focus sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The 22-year-old initially fled the scene but later returned, and he was then transported to the hospital. Police arrested him Sunday morning upon his release from the hospital.
Police charged the 22-year-old male, who had been driving a Jeep Cherokee, with two counts of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and driving on a revoked license. That revoked license was due to a previous DUI charge. The man is facing a $332,500 bond.
