The 2024 Billboard Music Awards finalists have been announced, and Taylor Swift and Drake are poised to set a new record for all-time wins. The two artists will face off for the honor at the annual awards ceremony this December.

How to watch the 2024 Billboard Music Awards?
This year’s awards will air on Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox and Fire TV channels, and on-demand on Paramount+. Performances and awards will roll out across Fox, Paramount+ and Amazon’s Fire TV channels, as well as the BBMAs and Billboard social channels.

What are some changes to this year’s ceremony?
The Billboard Music Awards will return to being hosted, with actress, comedian and writer Michelle Buteau serving as this year’s host. “Music is just one of those magical devices that can bring people together no matter what walk of life they’re from,” Buteau said in a statement. “And that’s what makes the Billboard Music Awards so special. These amazing, chart-topping artists deserve to be celebrated and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. With me hosting, you can expect a fun party, a cute celebration and a whole moment in a plus-size sequin suit.”
This year will also bring three new award categories including Top Hard Rock Album, Top Hard Rock Artists and Top Hard Rock Song.
Who are the finalists for this year’s Billboard Music Awards?
Either Taylor Swift or Drake, who are currently tied with 39 wins, may set or share a new record for all-time wins. Among the categories in which Swift is competing is Top Artist, which she has won three times, and Top Billboard 200 Artist. Swift will also be up against Zach Bryan for Top Artist, with the country artist leading this year as a finalist in 18 categories with 21 entries. Top Artist contenders also include Morgan Wallen and Sabrina Carpenter, who is a first-time finalist for Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Billboard Global 200 Artist, Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Artist, Top Billboard Global 200 Song, and Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Song.
The eligibility dates for this year’s awards are aligned with Billboard’s Year-End Charts tracking period, which measures music consumption from the charts dated Oct. 28, 2023 through Oct. 19, 2024.
