The Mercer Brand and The’47 Brand Team Up for Major League Baseball Capsule Collection


The Mercer Brand, a contemporary lifestyle label, has joined forces with The ’47 Brand to unveil a limited-edition Major League Baseball capsule collection. The capsule, which launches Dec. 12, will feature cashmere from Loro Piana.

“This partnership has been five years in the making. Connecting these companies under the Mercer flag has been one of the most important achievements in the history of the company,” said Pim Mercer, founder of The Mercer Brand. “With this collaboration, we really focused on designing and creating everything in-house to truly highlight the look, feel and sophistication of The Mercer Brand.”

The teams will be the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, New York Yankees, the Oakland As and the Boston Red Sox.

The capsule includes the very first cashmere baseball cap, blending vintage 1930s MLB aesthetics with luxurious Loro Piana cashmere. Designed to mimic the unstructured visors and small, flat logo embroideries of early baseball caps, it features a dark green under visor, originally added to reduce glare, and off-white embroidery to evoke a classic, vintage look. Crafted from 100 percent Italian cashmere by Loro Piana, the collaboration will only offer 100 caps per team. Each cap retails for $199.

The collection also features a reimagined varsity jacket, handcrafted in a small European factory that uses the same 100 percent Italian cashmere from Loro Piana that is used in the caps. Among the jacket’s details are premium chest embroidery and a chenille team logo appliqué on the sleeves. The jacket’s elevated design features a polo collar and self-fabric elastics at the waist and cuffs, adding a tailored touch to its sporty roots. It is finished with golden two-way YKK zippers. Only 50 jackets per team are produced and the piece retails for $899.

The third item is the Subway jacket, which is The Mercer Brand’s reinterpretation of the classic workwear jacket. The midlength, regular-fit jacket is crafted from premium 12-oz. British cotton sourced from Halley Stevensons mill. It has premium chest and back embroidery, and two-way golden YKK zipper, and elastic ribbed sleeves. The jacket is finished with a refined corduroy collar. Only 50 jackets per team will be produced, and the piece retails for $499.

Another item is the Bat Dog T-shirt, which has an in-house illustration of a bat dog for each team. Made by hand in Portugal from 100 percent organic cotton, the shirt has a soft finish. Only 150 per team were produced, and the limited-edition piece retails for $89.
