The Paris couture runways are known for being ne plus ultra for both boundary-pushing design and awe-inspiring craftsmanship, but the style outside shows can be just as inspirational.

After all, the audience that attends the event comprises not only the usual suspects of editors and influencers but actual house clients, resulting in a wide-ranging display from the super-chic to the more experimental.

Here are the top five street-style trends from Paris Couture Week fall 2024 season:

Conversational Bags

It’s no secret that bags have become a hot topic lately, and the ones at couture certainly lived up to the hype. What’s not to love about shoving lipstick in a golden lip clutch or toting about town with a silver dash round? 

Daytime Chic

There was a focus on elevated everyday ready-to-wear. Overall, the message was clean and classic with denim, white shirting and subtle nautical nods. The silk pajama set, however, remains the easiest way to effortless chic. 

Summer Florals

What summertime in Paris is without a garden full of flowers? Floral looks ranged from ultra-romantic with brocade and toile de jouy to more psychedelic with boho ‘60s and ‘70s references.

Make a Statement

Avant-garde guests matched the drama on the runways this season, playing with structure and volume in equal measure. Couture underpinnings like corsetry and pannier-style skirts were given outré flourishes, most prominently feathers.

Monochromatic Black

Black is the ultimate fashion uniform, so it’s not surprising that the streets of Paris were awash with it. Nicole Kidman resembled a sci-fi heroin a slick Balenciaga dress with blacked-out sunglasses, while Olivia Palermo opted for a more classic take with sheer new-look separates by Dior.
