Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard labeled their spring collection “Casual Lux,” so what’s next for pre-fall? “Take it easy,” said Swanson Beard during a preview at their showroom. “It’s all about taking it easy with these end-of-summer moments into the transition going into fall.”
With a loyal customer base, the Veronicas — as they are known around the showroom — understand that thinking small within a season doesn’t cut it. Rather, they are making pieces that enhance what their woman already has in her closet, giving her new ideas. “Having 38 stores, it’s about how does one collection stack on the other?” Swanson Beard said, with Miele Beard adding, “The modern woman is always searching for versatile ways to wear her favorite pieces, so we design with styling longevity in mind — how she can incorporate key styles both now and later. This season, we’re loving the juxtaposition of utility outerwear with softer, boho-inspired pieces.”
Their color palette began with beige hues moving to pops of color, their “hero” denim ideas, paisley prints, color blocking and texture. They were all meant to capture the high-summer-into-early-fall vibe, but really the pieces could work throughout the year with a bit of styled layering.
They make a lot of staples but with their own spin — a double-breasted trenchcoat made sleeveless, a denim pant but with lattice detailing, and their well-known blazers and suiting (their bread and butter). Accessories are a big part of the business, with footwear and the recent addition of handbags, both getting full image callouts in their look book with a wide range of options in both categories.
Early summer, the customer can wear some playful jellies or a flat sneaker and then transition to fall in a style Miele Beard is sure will be a hit. “I’m obsessed with our new heeled clog,” she said. “Clogs are going to be a major trend for fall, and our take on this classic style brings a sense of modern refinement that elevates everything from jeans to dresses. Another standout is our sleeveless trench — it’s not just an outfit maker, it is the outfit.”
